Placing Signature Fields (text tags) with PDF Forms
Text Tags are similar to Logiform's wildcards, you place them in your PDF where you want signatures, initials, and other data to be captured. There is a large list of available text tags and options available that are explained in depth in the Adobe Document Creating Adobe® EchoSign® Forms with Text Tags
When Text Tags are used within a PDF form, you name the fields on your form using Text Tag names. These fields are then replaced with the EchoSign Signature capture, initials, and other input fields.
When used within PDF Forms, the curly braces should not be included in the name of the PDF form fields and the size of the field is determined by the size of the PDF form field, and formatting of the data entered into the field is determined by the PDF form field properties.
Text Tag Overview
Text tags are defined for each expected signer and optionally the sender. If you have 3 signers specified in the recipient list, you would typically add 3 text fields to your PDF and name them as in this example:
_es_:signer1:signature
_es_:signer2:signature
_es_:signer3:signature
This would add 3 signature fields, shown to each of the signers as their turn to sign is presented to them. You can collect initials on each page in a similar fashion:
_es_:signer1:initials
_es_:signer2:initials
_es_:signer3:initials
And, the sender's signature and initials would be collected using the 'sender' identifier:
_es_:sender:signature
The following text tags are often commonly used:
_es_:signer1:company
_es_:signer1:fullname
_es_:signer1:email
_es_:signer1:date
Text Tag definitions are case-sensitive and must be specified in lower-case text.
A single document cannot include both PDF Form fields and fields defined using Text Tags.
For Example, even if you placed the signature text tag {{_es_:signer1:signature}} on the last page of the PDF, if the email text tag {{_es_:signer:email}} was not included, a second signature field would be added to the last page of the agreement.
