Hosted PDF Forms
Choosing this option in the second step of the New Form Wizard will help you import an existing PDF form and host it online. A backend database will be established, along with the form submission scripts. You can either use the PDF form as the data entry form, or have Logiforms parse the fields on your form and create a webform from the fields on your PDF.
The wizard will walk you through the steps of choosing a project and form name, configuring the PDF import settings, and generating the form. Once you import the form, you can edit the underlying database, make changes to the form itself, and then save it in your project folder. You'll be given a link to your new form, and you must go to that link to append any changes to your imported PDF form.
Manually Updating the Submit Button on your Hosted PDF Form
When you import your PDF form, you may see a message that the system is unable to automatically insert a submit button into the PDF Document. This is typically the case with forms created in Adobe LiveCycle Designer. There's no need to worry if you see this message: the solution is to manually add the submit button, and then set the submit action to the URL provided. Below, you'll instructions on how to add the submit button in both Adobe Acrobat and Adobe LiveCycle Designer:
Using Adobe Designer
-
Download the PDF form (or use an original that you have already imported)
-
Open the form in the Form Designer.
-
From the Library > Standard menu, drag an HTTP Submit Button onto your form.
-
In the Object panel, enter the URL displayed in Logiforms.
-
Save the form as a Static PDF, and then re-import it back into Logiforms.
Using Adobe Acrobat Professional
-
Download the PDF form (or use an original that you have already imported)
-
Open the form in Adobe Acrobat.
-
From the menu, select click Forms > Edit Fillable Forms.
-
Select Acrobat Form Tools and then click OK.
-
From the floating Forms Menu click the button tool.
-
Click on the document where you want to place the button and drag to the size you want.
-
In the pop-up properties window, go to the Actions Tab.
-
Under Select Action, choose Submit a Form and click Add.
-
Enter the URL displayed above.
-
Under Export Format, select PDF - The Complete Document.
-
Click OK, and then click Close
-
Save the form and re-import it back into Logiforms.
It's important to realize the difference between PDF Population Templates and the Hosted PDF Forms feature. With Hosted PDF Forms, you import a PDF to host and present the PDF form itself it to your users-and they will complete the form directly in Adobe Acrobat.
With PDF Population Templates, the intent is to generate a PDF document after a user submits a form. With a Hosted PDF Form, you can still use a PDF Population Template to generate another (populated) PDF for each submission.
