Applying Encryption to your Database
Logiforms offers Military Strength Encryption using a unique public/private key pair generated when you first sign up. You'll be prompted to download your private key on your second login attempt, and then again until you download it.
Applying Encryption to Fields on your Form
Some fields, like the Credit Card Block, have encryption applied automatically. You can apply encryption to any other field by following these steps:
- Open your form in the Form Designer
- Select the field you wish to encrypt in the Form Outline Panel or Live Edit Preview
- In the Field Properties Panel, under General Settings, change the Encrypted property to true.
- Save your changes.
Once the encryption property is set to true, any new data is automatically encrypted and stored in your database in an encrypted format.
Decrypting Data
The encrypted data can only be decrypted by your unique private key. We recommend you keep it stored on a USB device. You can decrypt your encrypted data, via any of these methods:
Record Details View
From within the Record Details View, you can click decrypt, enter your key, and your data will be decrypted. You only need to enter your key once per session.
Export Data Wizard
When you use the Export Data Wizard, you'll be prompted for your key when you attempt to export records that contain encrypted fields. Enter your key and your data will be securely downloaded and decrypted.
Via Secure Email with LogiDecrypt
Using LogiDecrypt, you can send a secure encrypted email, and decrypt it on your desktop using our free decryption utility, LogiDecrypt.
Workflow Decryption Widget
Withing workflows, you can insert the Decryption Widget into the Opening Content property of any Data Page that contains encrypted data. Clicking the button will open a prompt for your private key and after entering your key your data will be automatically decrypted.
