Access The Details and Audit Log of One Record
From within the Database Browser, you can access the details of a record in one of two ways: by double-clicking the row containing the record, or right-clicking the row to display a menu and choosing View Record Details.
In the summary section at the top of the Record Details window, you can see the system generated Record ID, the submission date, the date last modified, and who made the last change. Click Show Log to open the record's audit log, which lists every change made to the record after it was submitted (see Examine the Record Audit Log).
Notice the toolbars at the very top and bottom of the screen. You can manage or use Print Templates, Data Labels, or Email Templates.

Changing Data in a Record
With a record displayed, you can see all the visible fields. Unless they are read-only, you can make changes to the values in those fields.
Click in a field and make a change.
Click the Update button to save the changes. Click the Reset button to discard any changes.
On an Encrypted Field
If you have set the Encrypted property of any form fields to true, then that data won't be viewable in the database browser. However, you can reveal this data by clicking the Decrypt button in the Record Details window. Enter your private key at the prompt and click OK.
Examine the Record Audit Log
Every record keeps an audit log of the changes made to it after it was submitted. Use it to see when the record changed, who or what changed it, and the old and new value of each field that changed.
-
Open the form in the Database Browser. Right-click the record (1) and choose View Record Details (2). You can also double-click the row.
-
The summary at the top of the Record Details window (1) shows Last Modified and Last Modified By for the most recent change. Click Show Log (2), next to the Last Modified date.
-
The Record Audit log window opens. Each row is one saved change (1), with the most recent change at the top:
- Modification Date: when the change was saved.
- Modified By: who or what made the change. For example, End User Update via Respondent Update Mode means the person who submitted the form updated their own entry.
- IP Address: the IP address the change came from.
Click the + (2) beside a row to see what changed.
-
The row expands (1) and lists each field that changed (2), with its Original Value and New Value. An empty Original Value means the field was blank before the change. Click the - to collapse the row again.

Dan Miller The instructions for inserting a new record may be out of date. With version 3, the button to submit the form is not "update." It is "Insert new record."
