Beginning Direct Link Mode
-
In the Form Designer, choose Integration from the toolbar. You can also right-click on the form in the Dashboard, then select Form Design Tools > Integration Manager.
-
When the wizard appears, click the Next button to begin.
-
If your form has a username and password special field, you can choose Respondent Update Mode or Standard Form. If it doesn't, just click Next.
-
Click Direct Link, and then click Next to move forward in the wizard.
-
You have four choices: Direct URL Only, Create a text link, Create a Custom Button, or Direct Edit Link. You can find guidance for each option in the sections below.
Direct URL Only
If you simply want a URL to place into a link on your website, choose this option in the Direct Link wizard (see the preliminary steps above) and follow these additional steps:
-
Click Next to arrive at the URL Only panel. Here you can see the Link Code, which you can copy and then paste it into a custom link anywhere in your website. Before you do, you might want to modify it with pre-population parameters.
-
You can pass values into the form to pre-populate the fields. To do so, click the Add URL Params button. In the window that appears, choose the fields that you want to populate and specify a Value for each. Click Save to commit your changes.
-
Now you're ready to integrate with your website. In the Link Code field, select all of code and copy it. Then paste it into one or more links on your website.
-
You can save all of these settings by clicking Save Profile, entering a Profile Name, and then clicking OK.
-
Click Close to commit integration changes and exit the wizard. Optionally, you can double check your work by previewing the form.
Create a Text Link
If you simply want a HTML text link into your website, choose this option in the Direct Link wizard (see the preliminary steps above) and follow these additional steps:
-
Click Next to arrive at the Text Link panel.
-
Specify the Link Text that you want display. If you don't want the form to appear in a new window, set the Open in a new Window setting to false.
-
Click Next to arrive at the final step, the Custom Button Code panel. Here you can see the Button Code, which you can copy and then paste it into a custom link anywhere in your website. Before you do, you might want to modify it with pre-population parameters.
-
You can also pass values into the form to prepopulate the fields. To do so, click the Add URL Params button. In the window that appears, choose the fields that you want to populate and specify a Value for each.
-
Click Save to commit your changes, and then Preview the form to confirm that the pre-population values appear in the form.
-
Now you're ready to integrate with your website. In the Link Code field, select all of code and copy it. Then paste it into the HTML for one or more pages on your website.
-
You can save all of these settings by clicking Save Profile, entering a Profile Name, and then clicking OK.
-
Click Close to commit integration changes and exit the wizard. Optionally, you can double check your work by previewing the form.
Create a Custom Button
Perhaps, instead of the other two options, you'd rather have a simple button for your website. If so, choose this option in the Direct Link wizard (see the preliminary steps above), and then follow these additional steps:
-
Click Next to arrive at the Create a Custom Button panel. You can leave the defaults, or change the button, text, size, and color settings. Click Preview Button to see the results of your changes.
-
Click Next to arrive at the Text Link panel. Here you can see the Link Code, which you can copy and then paste it into the HTML for a page anywhere in your website. Before you do, you might want to modify it with pre-population parameters.
-
You can also pass values into the form to pre-populate the fields.
Direct Edit Link
You can generate the URL that allows users to return and edit a previous submission without logging in. See the preliminary steps above. For more details, review Autoresponder topics including Auto Login to Edit.
- Click Next to arrive at the Direct Edit Link panel.
- Copy the code into your clipboard for later use. It includes the [LFUUID] wildcard for the unique identifier for a record in your database. This allows a user to follow the link to return and edit their submission without logging in.
- Click Close to exit the wizard.
